AC Maintenance FAQs
Can I do my own air conditioning maintenance?
There are some aspects of AC maintenance that are relatively easy to handle on your own, which include:
- Cleaning and changing your air filter
- Cleaning and clearing debris away from your outdoor unit
- Removing dust build-up from your ventilation covers
Besides these few basic ac maintenance tasks, we highly recommend that you entrust the majority of your air conditioning maintenance to a professional on a regularly scheduled basis.
What times of year should I have AC maintenance done?
The best time for an AC Tune-Up is in the springtime, just before the heat sets in, and in the fall before you need to start using your furnace.
Having your HVAC system serviced at least twice a year before significant season changes is the best way to ensure consistent comfort, energy savings, and equipment performance.
Why does my air conditioner smell?
Foul smells coming from your air conditioner could be caused by several AC maintenance related issues, including;
- Dirty or clogged AC equipment
- Dust and debris build-up
- Excessive moisture, and so on.
Call our air conditioning maintenance technicians today at (281) 446-4272 for a proper HVAC assessment and maintenance!
Why does my AC unit turn on and off so much?
An air conditioning unit steadily powering on and off is called short-cycling, which can be caused by:
- Clogged air filters
- An over or undersized AC unit
- Low/leaking refrigerant
- Thermostat malfunctions, and so on.
If your air conditioning system is frequently powering on and off, you may need to have your system assessed by a professional to diagnose and address the cause.
Why is my Air conditioner's airflow so weak?
If your air conditioner’s airflow seems abnormally weak, you may need to change out or clean your air filter to improve airflow.
If changing your filter doesn’t improve your unit’s airflow, you will need to call a professional to assess your system and offer professional advice and servicing.
Where is my AC filter located?
Your air conditioner’s filter is a crucial component for optimal performance and comfort. Air filters need to be changed regularly to ensure that your home circulates clean air and your system isn’t having to work too hard to keep you comfortable.
If you aren’t sure where your AC filter is located, one of our AC maintenance technicians would be more than happy to show you where it is and how to maintain it.
Will air conditioning maintenance services lower my energy bills?
Keeping your air conditioning system clean and maintained will ensure that your unit runs appropriately all year long.
When your air conditioner is functioning correctly and without strain, your energy bills begin to reduce naturally.
It all comes down to performance- The more efficient your system performs, the more impactful your savings will be.
